Research-based residencies through The Soap Factory’s 3x5 Emerging Artist Residency, and Hinge Arts in Fergus Falls, MN.

 

An ongoing exploration into the politics, poetics, and gestural vocabulary of various kinds of awkwardness. Looking for the imperfect mastery of social conventions in various expressive practices like anime conventions, adolescent fights, and theatrical earnestness, this growing body of work deploys awkwardness as a means to create wiggle room in strongly embedded cultural narratives.
